RISE clinicians are licensed healthcare providers who work closely with patients experiencing insomnia and other sleep conditions. Drawing on evidence-based approaches, including CBT-I when appropriate, they help patients understand the factors affecting their sleep and build sustainable, personalized strategies that support lasting improvements in both nights and days.

Benjamin Pfeifer, Ph.D., is a founding clinician at the RISE Sleep Clinic. He is a licensed clinical psychologist in Michigan with authorization to practice telepsychology through PSYPACT.
Dr. Pfeifer works with adults with insomnia and other sleep problems using cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). He is also experienced in providing CBT, dialectical behavior therapy, and motivational interviewing to clients with mood, personality, and substance use disorders.
Dr. Pfeifer is dedicated to improving access to evidence-based psychotherapy and deepening understanding of what makes these treatments effective. As a RISE founding clinician, he helps RISE patients understand their sleep better and develop a personalized, data-driven approach to reach their sleep goals.
Prior to joining the RISE team, Dr. Pfeifer completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at The Ohio State University, where his research interests focused on process-outcome relations in CBT for depression. He worked with military veterans with mood and substance use disorders during his clinical internship in the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System and his postdoctoral residency in the Michigan Medicine/VA Ann Arbor Postdoctoral Consortium. He then served as a staff psychologist and Mental Health Clinic Team Leader at the Toledo VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic prior to starting a private practice focusing on treating depression and anxiety disorders with CBT and other evidence-based psychotherapies.
